An evening with friends before flying to Vietnam

Kênh thời tiết dự đoán một tuần trước đây cho biết thứ năm 6.6.2013 sẽ là một ngày tuyệt đẹp với nhiệt độ khoảng 24C do đó chúng tôi lên kế hoạch để gặp nhau tại nhà tôi ngày thứ năm 6.6, khoảng 2 tuần trước chuyến đi Việt Nam của tôi. Thật không may, trời cứ mưa mãi cả ngày hôm nay nên chúng tôi ở bên trong nhà thay vì ra trên sàn ngắm cảnh hồ! Mặc dù vậy, chúng tôi có một buổi tối tuyệt vời và thưởng thức 4 loại bia của Nhật bản, Singapore/Malaysia và Trung Quốc ...

The weather channel forecasted a week before that Thursday 6.6.2013 would be a beautiful day with a temperature around 76F, so we planned to get together at my place on Thursday 6.6, about 2 weeks before my trip to Vietnam. Unfortunately it kept raining the whole day today, we ended up staying inside instead of being on the deck overlooking the lake! Despite all of that we had a great evening and enjoyed 4 different kinds of beer from Japan, Singapore/Malaysia and China ...

Below are the emails before and after the party:

Chau: To my former team (Tom, Cheryl and Jason), lunch and jogging members (DaTwan, Joanna, Mike, Chris, Suraj),
It’s that time of the year again before I am heading to Vietnam I would like to invite you to my place next Thursday (June 6) at 4:30 PM. According to the weather channel it will be a beautiful day high 76°F and we will hang out on the deck overlooking a lake …

Tom: Sounds like fun! As you all know, I really don’t like drinking beer on a deck on a nice day overlooking a lake, but for Chau I’ll do it ;-)

DaTwan: Thanks Chau. I can’t wait for the snacks and companionship.

Tom: I’m looking forward to that bowl of rice, perfectly prepared in Chau’s $500 rice cooker ;-)

Mike: Hopefully the fuzzy logic cooker doesn’t turn it into fuzzy rice! I hope DaTwan and I aren’t spoiling the surprise Chau was giving us: I am also looking forward to some of that wild caught salmon that Chau is always talking about too! Smoked as well as grilled.

Chau: Tom and Mike, no rice this time. I just found locally “Japanese milk” (that I usually drink on the flight to Vietnam) and I think it is made out of rice. So this Thursday we will simulate my trip to VN by drinking “Asian milk” on the deck. For those who do not like “Asian milk” there will be “clear milk” aka H20. Thank you DaTwan for offering to bring lobsters and filet mignons, I can’t wait.

DaTwan: I can’t bring lobster and filet mignon, but I can offer to drive a few people to Chau’s mansion overlooking the lake. The rich people in that neighborhood have a very elite club with limited parking.

Jason: Are we still planning on getting together in the pouring rain?

Chau: Yes, we still do it. The worst case is we will be inside the house or go up to my bedroom look down the lake instead of being out on the deck unless we have umbrellas. It might stop raining around 3 or 4 pm. Will see you all raining or sunny.

Cheryl: Very nice yesterday Chau. There is always something very relaxing about being on the water.

Chau: Thank you, Cheryl. After you left, the rain stopped for awhile so we all went out on the deck. I wished it did not rain yesterday and sit on the deck with sound of the wave is very relaxing.

Chau: To all,
It's a nice evening having you at my place. I hope that we all enjoyed the talks and jokes that would last for a long time. Like I always say: Life is beautiful ...
